Before Willie Nelson became a country music icon, he was already writing songs that other artists couldn’t ignore.

One of his most famous songs found its greatest early success through Patsy Cline, whose recording helped turn it into a country classic.

The songwriter and the singer came from very different places — but together, they created a song that would outlive them both.

Willie wasn’t just a great singer.

He was a songwriter whose words could change another artist’s career.

Would you have guessed Willie Nelson wrote this song?
