In nineteen ninety, the IRS handed country legend Willie Nelson a bill of about sixteen point seven million dollars in back taxes, then began seizing his property. Most stars would have hidden. Nelson did the opposite. In nineteen ninety-two he released an album, "The IRS Tapes: Who'll Buy My Memories?", with proceeds going straight toward his debt. Fans bought it to help bail him out. Within a few years, the man who nearly lost everything had paid the government back.
