My associates and I decided to record this Kris Kristofferson song after running across a video of his 1970 demo recording session with his longtime friend, guitarist, and collaborator Stephen Bruton. We wanted to maintain the stripped down approach of that demo rather than the highly produced version released in 1974. Brian Leaver's guitar playing allowed us to do that.
