His wife, Lisa Meyers, urged doctors to perform more tests.
The tests showed that he actually had Lyme disease instead.

Kristofferson retired from performing in 2021 because of age and health concerns.
He died peacefully at his home in Hana, Hawaii on September 28, 2024, at the age of 88.
He is remembered as one of the greatest singer-songwriters and actors in American entertainment history.
