Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan perform “One Too Many Mornings” during their remarkable February 1969 recording sessions at Columbia Studio A in Nashville.
Cash later recalled that Dylan invited him to the studio and the engineers simply turned on the recorder while the two sang together for hours. The sessions were informal and produced a fascinating mixture of Dylan songs, Cash songs, old country standards, and spontaneous collaborations.
This performance was recorded on February 18, 1969, as Dylan was working on Nashville Skyline. The recordings remained largely unreleased for decades and later appeared on Travelin’ Thru: The Bootleg Series Vol. 15.
